This wet-to-dry tool is a game-changer for my frizzy hair
Our Beauty Editor can't live without her REMINGTON® AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler
My hair is naturally very frizzy. I’m not talking about a few stray strands after getting caught in the rain – I’m talking about a big fuzzy halo that sets up shop on the surface of hair the minute it comes into contact with so much as a drop of rain. If you’re struggling to visualise it, phrases like ‘bird's nest’ and ‘dragged through a hedge backwards’ will point you in the right direction.
It’s also naturally (and stubbornly) curly, which makes taming it into my preferred sleek style quite the workout. Enter AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler from REMINGTON®– the fuss-free answer to my fluffy-headed prayers.
Before I wax lyrical about all the reasons why I love this tool, let’s start with a spoiler. I first tested the REMINGTON® AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler for our woman&home Beauty Awards 2025, and it won Best Hair Tool Innovation with sky-high scores across the board. It wasn’t just me that awarded it 10/10, but also session stylist James Butterfield (who is responsible for all of the hair on our w&h shoots) and celebrity hairstylist Jason Collier (who’s worked with the likes of Victoria Beckham) too. I’m such a fan that I keep conveniently ‘forgetting’ to bring my sample back to the office – don’t tell my editor…
This wet-to-dry tool makes smoothing frizz easy
Beauty Editor Jess Beech before using the REMINGTON® AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler (L) and after (R)
I was initially quite sceptical about the REMINGTON® AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler. I’ve used this kind of tool before from other brands, and they were heavy, clunky, and left me with frizzy, curly bits right by my hairline as the design of the tools meant I couldn’t quite get to the root.
I washed my hair, towel dried it, and left it to air dry for an hour before using the REMINGTON® AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Style in ‘wet mode’. It’s entirely intuitive to use (just turn it on and you’re good to go) and impressively quiet. So quiet that I was worried it might not be working properly. It also didn’t feel particularly hot, but with a few slow-ish passes per section, my hair came out completely dry, smooth and very much frizz-free. No arm-ache, no endless reading of the instructions, no curly hairline, no extreme, damaging heat.
I’m someone who normally blow-dries and straightens their hair every time they wash it, so it felt like multitasking at its finest to be able to do them both at once. Doubling up on drying and straightening simultaneously also helps to preserve your hair’s natural moisture for up to 24 hours*, for a soft, shiny finish. I couldn’t believe how glossy my hair looked.

If you’re thinking this all sounds well and good, but what about the next day when your hair starts to kink at the front? REMINGTON® has thought of that, too. There’s a ‘finishing mode’ that converts the tool into a straightener by reducing the airflow and boosting the temperature of the styling plates.
To help minimise frizz and maximise smoothness, the plates also have micro-conditioners embedded into the ceramic, which are released into the hair with each pass. Even better, Ionic Air flows through vents on the plates, distributing millions of ions to help eliminate static – something that me and my spiky baby hairs very much appreciated.
Of course, even if you’re using straighteners, you don’t necessarily want a poker-straight finish, and the REMINGTON® AIRvive™ 2-in-1 Air Styler has taken that into account as well. The casing is curved, making it easy to add movement in the form of bouncy curls, waves, and flicks. Your style is also cooled by the airflow, helping to set it in place.
Ultimately, this is a must-try tool for anyone who, like me, lists frizz as their top hair bugbear. If you see me braving it without a brolly when the forecast says a 10% chance of rain, you know why…
