While the rest of the team’s glued to their screens for the latest autumn TV drops, I’ve been blissfully browsing Amazon’s virtual bookshelves, hunting down the best Prime Day book deals for cosy nights in or just-because treats.
Amazon Prime Day runs for 48 hours from 7th–8th October, with new deals dropping daily and many of them hitting their lowest prices of the season right now. I’ve quizzed our Books Editor, Zoe, chatted with publishers, and swapped recommendations with the other readers on our team to bring you the buzziest bestsellers, book club favourites, and underrated gems that are absolutely basket-worthy.

Before we dive into the books, a quick heads-up from Laura, our resident Kindle guru. She insisted I flag the Kindle deals first. Amazon always saves its biggest discounts for its own devices during sales like this, and right now, some of the best e-readers are going for seriously good prices.
Kindle Unlimited Prime Day
If you're a Prime member and you've been tempted by Kindle Unlimited, I've got good news. Kindle Unlimited usually costs £9.49 a month, but during the Prime Day sale, Amazon is offering new or eligible returning users three months of Kindle Unlimited for free. Yes, you read that right - we're talking unlimited access to heaps of digital books and audiobooks, and it won't cost you a cent.
And did you know that you can use Kindle Unlimited on a phone, tablet, or laptop? I've recently got super into using it on my phone. I love the fact that I don't need to remember to charge my Kindle, plus my 'book' is now with me at all times, unlike my Kindle!

This has topped the e-reader charts for months and I now know why. Utterly gripping, it has more twists and turns than you could ever expect. I don't even want to tease you with a description. Just read it (and the two others in the series.)
This book had me sobbing on the beach. It follows a woman who's husband makes one final request before his death. As she grudgingly undertakes the complex task, I felt every prickle of grief, hope, and love.
A modern Agatha Christie, this murder mystery follows five friends who go on holiday to France and one ends up dead. I read this on holiday. In France. So I think it had some extra-terrifying layers to it.

I just finished listening to The Names (because it's free on Audible) and wow. The sliding-doors narrative follows the lives of a family, shaped by the mother's choice to name her child Bear, Julian, or Gordon. It's fantastic.
I actually interviewed Jessica Stanley about this book, and she was nothing short of brilliant. The funny, smart tale is all about second chances in love. It's one you'll want to talk about at your next book club.
This book has been everywhere (you'll recognise the non-audiobook cover), but I couldn't justify £12 for a quick read. However, I listened to the audiobook for free and ended up buying the paperback to keep. It's a modern classic.
